2014 Walk to School Day a Success

Sixty Kane County Schools participated in International Walk to School Day on October 8, 2014.  This marks the fifth year the Funders’ Consortium has sponsored Walk to School Day.  Thanks to our sponsors, Elgin Parks and Recreation and City of Aurora for their support.

Fit for Kids Funders’ Consortium is Sponsoring International Walk to School Day, October 9, 2013

 On October 9, 2013, the Fit for Kids Funders’ Consortium will be sponsoring our Fourth International Walk to School Day in Kane County! Join us in walking to school on October *9th, and your PTO will be eligible to receive $250 through the Making Kane County Fit for Kids Funders’ Consortium. Registration is now open.

McCarty Burlington Neighborhood Garden

Sleepy Hollow Community Gardens

Sleepy Hollow has added community garden plots for community residents and expanded their giving garden. Produce from the giving garden is sent to a local food pantry.

One Hope United in Aurora gives kids healthy experiences!

At One Hope United Early Learning Center in Aurora, healthy eating and physical activity is integrated into the curriculum for all students. A moveable kitchen cart, purchased with funding from the Fit for Kids Funders’ Consortium, allows nutrition education, food demonstrations and tastings to come to the classroom.
