There is nothing better than homegrown vegetables but sometimes there is no space at home to grow them. Community gardens give you the opportunity to grown vegetable, talk with other farmers, and learn about nutrition. In 2015, students K-5 from Mccleery Elementary School learned about planting, harvesting, and nutrition. These lessons took place at the “Grow-to-Learn” kids garden at Marie Wilkinson Food Pantry community garden.

Marie’s Community Garden Park is located on North Highland Avenue across from the Marie’s West Pantry.  Members of the garden have their own plots and help take care of the commons area. For the members who are new to farming, there are local gardeners, farmers, and University of Illinois Extension educators who are willing to answer any questions you may have.
